A resolution is the firm determination to do or accomplish something. Sometimes we need a radical change or a disruption to push us out of our comfort zones in order to produce something brilliant. Anthony Burgess, an accomplished musician, was 40 years old when he wrote his first novel, Time for a Tiger. A few years later, Burgess was diagnosed as having a brain tumor and told he had only one year to live. The prospect of death prompted Burgess to write 5 1/2 novels during this “final year” so that he could provide an inheritance for his wife. Fortunately for everyone, one year went by and this diagnosis proved to be incorrect. Burgess is best known for his novel A Clockwork Orange, which was directed by Stanley Kubrick. Burgess created over 50 written works in his lifetime.
